Global economic forecast

In my doomscrolling I see companies like United, David’s Tea, etc are laying off thousands of workers. Then I read an article that said high unemployment will continue to 2022. 2022 people. They just skipped an entire year. I have trouble focusing and feel so bleak. I feel like despite my safety in BC that there will be a global freefall. How does one prepare for what is to come.

step 1 is to realize these happens every decade and once we're through this it'll happen again. the bank failure in '08, the border shut down after 911, Rodney king in 1991 which led to Los Angeles being burnt down, the stock market collapse in the late 80's. in the internet boom and bubble collapse of the late 90's.
life goes on. it always does.

Pay off all of your debts. This could be the very first thing you do.

Get healthy. One day at a time does it.

David’s tea really holds up the world economy. Good example.

The more self sufficient we become the better it is for everybody. I mean that on a micro scale. Back to the basics like bartering and trading for goods and services. Grow your own food if at all possible, if not find someone with land that is willing to let you use it for exchange of fresh produce. It has been done way before the advent of money. It might not solve rent concerns but at least it's a start and you won't starve. Geezus, when there was a run on toilet paper I hooked up with a senior that picked it up for me in exchange for some jazz cigarette product. Amazing how this can work, just have to be a bit creative. Our model of economics is crashing and hopefully in the long run will change the way we look at business and money for the better. Our crass consumerism is effing up the planet. Wear your damned masks in public!! Stay safe, everyone!

Each year in Canada around 450,000 people retire so that ought to help cover things.
But it won't, if Justin keeps his open border policy then watch unemployment ie massive national debt, skyrocket.
