Happy

I'm happy all these stores are closing because new stores will open in place of them and that is exciting.

Not me

I’m so sad for those small business owners who have put everything they had on the line to open their business, only to lose it this way. Like another commenter said, the only benefactors will be the conglomerate big business stores, who will gobble up any remaining market. This is not a positive step forward.

But some shops have been shuttered for a year or so. There is now 1.2 million square feet of vacant retail space in Metro Vancouver. I suspect those numbers are going up.

Small business owners took a risk. If they were struggling before...this helps to make them happier over time. Now they can do something else. A risk was taken. Remember that. I guarantee many of you don’t take risks so you don’t fully understand.

This isn't a real post

This post can't be real. No one would be naive enough during this economic downturn (hello recession just stay tuned) to think that stores will close (which they are and will) and that miraculously, new stores and retailers will show up and set-up shop. In what world....
