I'm "non-binary" in terms of "gender"

By virtue of my genes and genitals I'm also a female- depending on the day one may assume me to be "cis gender" a term I frankly despise as it only enforces expectations, stereotypes and judgments on what it is to "look like a woman" (or man etc). When asked my "sex" on a medical form or something where its reasonable for them to note what body parts I have, without hesitation I circle "F" - but note that the options of "Female or Male" leave out a range on inter-sexed people - folks who's biology does not land in one of these categories- because genetic sex IS NOT A BINARY EITHER! I've decided these days when possible to leave the"sex" or "gender" boxes blank as in most cases my genitals shouldn't matter nor should how I "present myself". It's been a long journey for me as a woman to feel ok with my body parts and personality- as a child I was dubbed a TomBoy and struggled a lot with how i felt and the things I liked to do and if I was still a girl because I didn't like many girly things. It felt wrong just existing most of my life, but I'm done with that. I dont mind "non-binary" because it doesnt tru to describe what I AM, but notes what I'm not. Kind of like I'm "not straight" re: sexual orientation

This should be interesting. The upvotes/downvotes will work as a poll of sorts as to how people feel about this subject.

Personally, I just hope you are happy. No one in life should have to be anything they are not. I'll call you anything you want. Be happy.

Attention People, despite what the OP wrote, MOST of us tomboys are straight.
Example: we would rather play sports and climb trees and ride our dirt bikes with our guy friends than play with dolls with our female friends.

More importantly, you also suck the air out of any room and every conversation.
Any narrative with too much "me, myself, my and I" triggers an "elevated-narcissism" indicator. At 26 (more? I may have missed some) items in only 8 (sort-of) sentences, the count here is uncommonly high even by today's self-obsessed standards.
Your sexuality and gender identity are neither important nor interesting, to almost everyone. The exceptions may be the handful of close people in your life, but they probably already know this stuff. And perhaps, medical staff tasked to deal with your needs, though that interest is usually for clinical mechanics.
Also, any surviving bigots. Sadly, they're a too-gradually-dying breed.
Otherwise meaningless, except to you.

A change is needed

This might be filed under "unpopular opinions", but hear me out.
On traditional ID, the two choices was for identification purposes at a visual level, stating qualities as height, eye and hair colour, et cet. Gender was among those.
I think our ID should have P or V instead of M or F. This way, gender fluidity is respected and kept out of the equation while the physical aspect (the heart of ID, really) focuses on those visual identifiers that such details were meant to convey.
"They have green hair, blue eyes and a vagina." Helps physically identify the individual, no need to go into gender identification discussions. And with current xray technology already able to do the "identifying" without asking anyone to disrobe, it's easy to confirm, thus restoring the purpose of said detail to identify an individual fully.

Great confession

And these comments reveal so much seething hate, ignorance, and missing of the point that make your perspectives on non-binary identities that much more important to talk about.

Why the fuck do people love the rigidity of living in boxes so much?

Yes! You took the words out of my mouth. Just because a female likes sports or being active outdoors instead of docilely playing quietly inside, doesn’t make them any less female! My mother knew that 7 decades ago. The whole concept of equality for women is this: females can be whatever they want to be. Just like males. It doesn’t have to mean that I want to remove the F from any of my legal documents!

A better question

When filling out any forms, applications etc. Rather than asking M or F, the question should be:
Are you XX or XY

OP is not saying that you are any less female or that your heterosexuality is in question if you take to sports or tomboy activities. Your gender and sexual preferences are up to you to identify.

This is a confession about OP’s own personal experiences with gender identity, not an attack on yours.

I think of Jethro on the original Beverly Hillbillies who, when asked on a questionnaire about his sex, declared "Oh Boy"!
