I'm so sick of the word "mindfulness"

I feel like the next time I hear or read it I'm going to effing scream. You know something's become a cliche once it's being used to sell consumer goods. Check out "mind wandering" instead - so much more interesting....

Stop letting your mind wander, and just be mindful of the products you need to buy.

Mindlessness

So much more relevant to this modern life. A truly mindful consumer is an unprofitable customer.
Also important - selfishness, manipulation, fear, hate and greed. All in abundance everywhere, but only mindlessness, fear, hate and greed sell. Not as well as lust, but safer to diversify one's product offering.
Lust in a pandemic is tricky, unless you're a camgirl, or camboy, or camperson, depending on your target market.

Sonder. The realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.

of the word 'pivot'. Heard it way too many times during the pandemic for too many situations.

When a company is able to use "mindfulness" in a slogan to sell a product, it is a mainstream idea. Remember this when seeing any cause championed by a corporation or government. You're being told that this product associates you with higher ideals. That's how you're being hooked. And sure it could be worse, you could be associated with power, or military strength, or mindlessness. They have levers for every kind of consumer.

It's not just the word....

...it's the entire concept. You take a perfectly sound eastern brain-calming technique - meditation - and turn it into a western "spiritual" cult, where the only thing being worshipped is your own narcissism. Forget the NHL, if you want to see real competitiveness, go to a yoga class in Kits!
I like the heartfullness thing though - seems more genuine.

If you PRACTICE mindfulness (attending to whatever arises in the present moment; perhaps by first attending to something like your breath), you would be able to LET GO your annoyance to mindfulness! So, learn mindfulness to let go mindfulness!

That word, yes.

I feel like someone is giving me shit every time I hear it. It reminds me of a lot of bad concepts, even if I have it wrong: endless self-policing, hyper-vigilance and an obligation to be constantly improving! I would fail a thousand times a day. How can someone relax when they are being constantly mindful. I'll go with mindlessness thanks.
