No Envy Now

As a single person living alone, I resented parents for having people around them during confinement. Now I no longer envy the choices they are confronted with about sending kids to a school in this climate or the other options. Most adults can't wear a mask all day or remember to socially distance so how can we expect kids to? It also strongly depends on what values the other parents have taught the kids. In the US, it's a fact that a percentage of children will actually DIE when schools re-open. I think kids are germ-mongers to begin with and shouldn't be allowed to mingle now (as much as they need to socially) but wouldn't want to be faced with that choice or consequence.

i know i totally would not know what to do. especially when the schools are open the parents are both expected to go back to work so the subsidies will run out. Ever since our society has created jobs that pay so little that a family cannot live from it so both parents have to work, kids have had a pretty shitty existence

I’m not sending my daughter to university this semester in Quebec because it’s a hot spot. Thanks but no thanks. Keeping her here in ‘relatively’ safer Vancouver a little longer!
