THE POSITIVES OF LOCKDOWN

Traffic has gone;fuel is affordable;bills extended;kids are at home with their families;parents are home taking care of their kids;fast food replaced by home cooked meals;hectic schedules replaced by naps, rest, and relaxation;the air seems cleaner;the world quieter;people are more conscious about hygiene and health; money doesnt make the world go round anymore;doctors and nurses are being praised and recognized instead of celebrities and we now have time, finally, to stop and smell the roses, and dont forget to look up at the stars....OUR NEW WORLD IS QUITE AMAZING. Part 2

Massive government debts and deficits incurred that will never be paid off and will enslave future generations. Family owned and often inter generational small businesses going bankrupt and closing down casting millions into unemployment. Also millions losing jobs due to whole industries shutting down who may decide to change countries.
Etc etc etc etc etc

Is this piece called Silver Linings or The Great Fallacy?

I regret to inform you about the following.
-Money not making the world go round is still not a thing, it still very much is our reality
-Gas is affordable but how are prices still above a dollar per liter when the price for a barrel of crude went into the negatives?
-Doctors and nurses were praised... but only when they were needed or fixed a problem that was ailing an individual. Oh wait.. you're statement is still correct, since they're burdened with carrying us out of this pandemic as our front line.
-Hectic schedules replaced with overwhelming anxiety and scrambling to find ways to make ends meet if you were one of the unfortunate souls that was laid off when social distancing took into effect

Totally agree with you. I moved here 30 years ago and it was more like this. Actually livable. You can thank Gordon Campbell and his cronies for turning us into a "world class city" (and then taking off to England, having made a fortune on his real estate he bought when it was actually affordable, no doubt...)

What?

What you describe is definitely not a universal experience. I don't know anyone who feels more relaxed or richer for this lockdown.

Except

grocery shopping etc is a frightening experience, wondering if someone coming down the aisle towards you will give you a disease.

Cognitive dissonance is real.
I'll chalk this up to more clueless self-absorbed people who think they get it.
Ignorance is bliss.
Rather not.

Yes true but

I’m not impressed with the extreme amounts of cleaning chemicals EVERYWHERE
There will be negative consequences from that
Just because you can’t feel the effect of them doesn’t mean they are not harming you

On the other hand...

People try to sell their cars to make ends meet, but find no buyers when everyone is broke; bills start piling up, while rates get higher to cover the delinquencies; kids grow up in fear, missing out on normal socialization; parents are burdened with a stay-at-home family on top of work-from-home duties; free time is gone because you're cooking at home all the time to save money, struggling with a strained budget as food prices rise; more ennui and less stimulation because so much is closed; people grow fearful because not everyone is practicing good hygiene and there's now way more at stake; money and politics dominates our airwaves, our conversations, our lives, especially as we have less distractions and less variety in things to do; more troublemakers with more free time wander about; and a looming economic crisis is very real as more bankruptcies happen, less people have money to spend or less people willing to out of uncertainty, accelerating layoffs and business closures...OUR NEW WORLD IS BARELY GETTING STARTED AND WE STILL HAVE A WORSE COVID-19 WAVE TO COME.
Depends what half of the glass you're willing to look at, huh? Yeah. Popped that bubble....
