Positives

It's been 7 months since I've seen my friends, and I'm a calmer, happier more positive person for it.
When we wouldn't hang out I would always hear about work and relationship problems, that was basically it. I don't think even those people realize how unhappy they are. I feel so much better for the isolation.

This damnpenic is challenging. We humans are social creatures & until recently, our ancestors lived in extended families and tribes around the village fire heath. That's were the name heathens comes from by the way; when it was used as a spell(ing) mind-f*ck by the bully/greed class to cast dispersion on real people. Anyways ... all things must pass and this damnpenic will pass too; although there will likely be even more challenging times ahead. Good thing the greater universe(s) are benevolent and while we find our way through Planet Earth elementary school, there is always opportunity in adversity. Walk good Sisters and Brothers.

The people in this city are so self absorbed it's boring, of course you're
a better person for spending time alone.

Vancouverites are by far the most self-centered people I've met in 25 years of travel and living abroad. I feel they're really not looking for friends but an audience, so they can rattle on about their neurosis or whatever mediocre effort they're mustering up this month. I found myself leading a life of seclusion to prevent myself from losing my mind conversing with them. You're right in moving on. Enjoy the peace, quiet and solitude and use the time you would have spent socializing reading literature or taking a class.

I moved an hour East (during non rush-hour travel) up the Fraser Valley and pleasantly surprised by the slower pace and generally more friendly real people.
