Stanley park attractions

I'm a senior , age 70, who doesn't live within walking distance of S park. For about 60 years, I've enjoyed cooling off in the water at 3rd beach but I can't get there now as the road is closed. What's the point of opening up a lane for vehicle traffic if the parking lots are all closed so that you can't actually stop to do anything?

Single mom with 2 small children. Why do bikes get such priority treatment? Or folks who live close by. Going into the water at the beach has been our fun activity for the summer , not being able to ever afford a vacation elsewhere. We can't walk there.

Why don't the bikes take the left lane and cars the right lane? That way the road to 3rd could be open. The restaurants need some parking spots too!

If only there were some means of conveyance that allowed one to be transported cheaply and reasonably efficiently without the need to purchase, maintain, and store said conveyance. If I were to invent such a thing I think I would name it "public transportation".

Just take a taxi after brunch at the Sylvia and pre-book a time to get picked up. Or just enjoy a twenty minute stroll beside the ocean. The seawall is as senior-friendly now as it ever will be.

There are SO MANY beaches, parks and places to go other than Stanley park. Jesus fucking Christ go do a google search and find some where else to visit instead of complaining.

There are SO MANY places to ride your bike other than Stanley Park. Why do bikes get a LANE all to themselves and a 70 yr old can't park anywhere in the park to go into the water at one of the few sandy beaches they have been visiting their whole life.

I too am a senior who doesn't live near Stanley Park. Yet I manage to take the bus and walk or run the trails to get to the beaches. I have been doing this for decades. I have never owned a car because I could see climate change beginning more than 40 years ago and didn't want to contribute to it. Cars are wasteful, stupid and planet-killing. If you are a dedicated lifelong walker or cyclist you will have a much better chance of maintaining your capacity to get around without a car into old age. I am loving the empty parking lot at Third Beach - long may it remain. I would like to see the return of the old circle bus though. It looped the Park throughout the summer and picked up and dropped off at various places including Second and Third beaches.
