I don't like cooking barefoot.

I was making caramel in the microwave, barefoot. Put it on for too long, the bottom of the plastic bowl melted and I ended up with a massive blister on my big too. Couldn't wear a shoe for weeks. Be warned!!

hot! hot!

Hot grease splashing out of the frying pan doesn't feel good either. There's a reason for those heavy duty oversized commercial kitchen aprons, protects your legs from a hot oven, too.

Boots

Even indoors. But I have large dogs, too.
That boot habit has saved me a world of hurt. Seen people slip and fall down carpeted stairs, on wet and greasy floors, the deck after a rain...
I'd wear them to shower, if I could. Catch a lot of grief for it. Meh.

Some guy kept saying that people should never cook bacon naked. Seems like that lesson is the same for this scenario!
