Confrontation fatigue

There are people in my life who believe that it’s acceptable to confront anyone who says or does anything that they think is unacceptable. I mean, ANYTHING. How they speak, how they dress, absolutely everything is up for critique. When they themselves are confronted about this attitude however, they insist that they’re just offering “advice” so that whoever they’re critiquing will be able to improve. It completely escapes them that their opinions are not necessarily the “right” ones and that perhaps the other person has an equal right to their own opinion. It’s exhausting and infuriating being around them. I am much more of a go-with-the-flow type and I don’t think it’s my place to be continually advising or correcting or critiquing other people, even if they happen to be family or friends. So kindly stop sharing your opinion on everything I say, do, or wear. I promise to give you the same respect.

I call bullshit, I'm not of course 100% on point here necessarily I've just found that people or rather some people like yourself who are fed up with always being told this or that. Are themselves very opinionated and when other strong opinionated view comes to be in their path it's less than pleasing. Maybe you'll get luckily and this friend will leave town.

But it's a free country and people are allowed to express their opinions as long as they're not promoting hate crime.
If you disagree with someone's opinion just say "we'll have to agree to disagree and I'm not willing to discuss it further".

No, I’m not opinionated. I believe that how someone dresses or speaks is not my problem. If they’re speaking rudely to me, absolutely I’ll stick up for myself, but if they talk about something to someone else I’m not going to scold them like a child. I’m also not going to give anyone advice unless they genuinely ask for it. Basically I don’t believe that it’s up to me to tell any other adult how to live. Unfortunately some people haven’t clued in that it’s really disrespectful to do that.

Me and my opinion will f-off now and move out of your way because when you're right, your right! I wish everyone treated EVERYONE they knew this way though.
