Healthcare workers always have a huge pool of potential suitors to choose from, even if they are unattractive and/or have a shitty personality. It's a benefit of working in an essential field and earning a decent wage with benefits.

The first case of reinfection with severe symptoms was just confirmed in North America. Different strain, same virus.
My partner is in emergency services. Many co-workers are burned out and high-risk. Same will go for other health professionals soon enough. And children are highly effective, mostly asymptomatic carriers.
Yours is a sound decision, statistically. Not very human, but quite practical.
That being said...
If you're there for someone when they're neck-deep in sh*t, it may be the best decision you'll ever make. Assuming you pick the right partner or friend. Certainly worked out for me so far.
On the other hand, a number of people took a pass when I was in a bad way.
Some of them were "friends" (and those are air-quotes). Others are blood family. They all ceased to exist in my universe. They could catch fire and I wouldn't even turn to look.
None of them know this yet. I'll save the revelation for when it will be most impactful. Seems more fitting.
