Don't understand some roommates

I am actively looking for a place to live as well. I found the perfect place but the roommates want to do social stuff all the time. No, they are not 21 either. I just do not understand why working professionals who are already in a relationship and have family have to form these family relationships with their roommates. It just seems like the travellers are getting desperate and trying to suck us into their umbrella cult organization.

Hanging out with roommates is great when it naturally suits everyone.

However, the expectation of constant extroversion seems unreasonable. It sucks to get labelled as a shut in, a hermit, or generally a not-fun person if you are someone who simultaneously needs alone time and an affordable shared living situation.

Everyone has tough decisions

I had to move cities in order to find a place for myself. it is more expensive than I am used and it is, as I said, in another city. that said, this is life, I had the same options you do and they did not work for me. unfortunately people are at the mercy of the options and what they can control. subletting wasn't an option. good luck with how it works out, housing is very tough right now.

in or out of any particular living arrangements. Choose your boundaries, make them known, quitchabitchin. Lead by example and get on with your lives. Life is for living.

Go away. This is “Confessions”, not “tell people to stop complaining and embrace positivity only at all times forever and ever”.

Weird Roommates

I completely agree. I recharge by being alone. I’m an introverted extrovert. I can be super social and see lots of people quite often but I need time alone to reduce stress and manage anxiety. When a rental ad mentions that they don’t want someone who just stays in their room too often, I have to pass. Having a busy schedule and then going home to socialize is exhausting. Sometimes I need to just sit in my bed and watch Netflix. Your personal time should never be managed by someone else.

So you're not a good fit for that house. Move on. Not everyone has the same lifestyle and there's nothing wrong with other people wanting to live in a different arrangement than what you want.

These ppl who identify as workaholics/wanderlusters... which is it? I’d like a piece of cake too... thankfully I’ve been fasting the last few years and don’t require the constant stimulation of sense. I hope you all starve.
