54-46 was my number

I put on some Toots this morning when I woke up, I wanted to brighten another smoky morning. But as I listened I totally lost it and started crying and sobbing. Toots was a saint of reggae, and his music has brought so much joy to the world and we have so many good memories of him and the Maytals. We will miss you Toots. We love you Toots. Rest in power.

The massive memorialization of Toots indicate how deeply he touch this world soundscape. All the MSM covering it and even Mick Jagger called out Toots name. Of interest is that Toots and a precious few of the other reggae pioneers never went for the rasta worship of Ethiopia emperor selassie. Toots song 'Monkey Man' speaks to that mentality. To Bob Marley's credit, Bob had a change of heart on his mortal death bed and acknowledged bowing to terrestrial aristocracy was wrong, as well as the parallel mentalities of womanizing, being quick to anger & violence and other unfortunate behaviour patterns. ps: for those who don't know the song title '54-46' refers to the prison number Toots receive from doing time on a weed charge. Like many, I got my number one time too.

1) aren't you a cheerful one and does that energy help this world in peril? 2) Could we guess who you would vote for if you lived S. of the border?
@ I hate that no (one) listens (to) me anymore!

I'm listening, that's why i asked you about your down-vote. I'd also be happy to meet you for a coffee/tee but this Straight Chat Group is not that type of forum providing contact info. I do suggest though that you reach out to a compassionate counsellor or do some volunteer work with a genuine service organization. There is a reality that; you help yourself by helping others and, you will find good-hearted people in these service organizations who will be happy to help you. Also, since this topic is about the wonderful musician Toots, you don't have to listen to Toots or his reggae genre, but everyone will find comfort and help when listening to positive music. When i was a young man at extreme risk an Aretha Franklin song gave me a giant help; perhaps it even saved my life.
