Cheers to conquering fears

I had a lot of odds against me growing up. Somehow managed to be somewhat successful, depending on how you define that. Finally at 28, I can say I’ve managed to build a life I’m proud of. I also didn’t turn out to be an addict - but even if I did, it really wouldn’t be that surprising considering what I’ve experienced - and I didn’t let the abuse I went through ruin the rest of my life. But, it can feel “strange” not feeling like I’m going to be punished. That I’m blessed and taken care of. I’m not used to this new life. And I’m just going to be ok with that. One day I’ll write a book because we all do have so much in common. Keep going, it’s a journey. Enjoy it.

You make it sound like you’ve been suffering for so long but oh my goodness you are a baby!! You are lucky to have your life together so young!! Most people don’t get there until late thirties or fourties these days!!

I too struggled. But after persevering through every imaginable hardship, cutting toxic friendships, suffering through tragedy after tragedy I have found success. Finally at the age of 14 I can say I've accomplished all the dreams I worked toward my entire life. One day I'll write a book about my long journey. Just keep trying, every day. You're the hero of your adventure. Just do it.

Happy for you

It's great to see people who didn't have the best start doing well. I think you should write that book because you could be an inspiration to others. You are such a refreshing change from all the spoiled, bratty, entitled, "I'm worth it" crap out there.

I usually date guys younger than that, but not younger than their 20s.

Your life

...at least the adult part of it, has really only just begun. I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but at such a young age you should be prepared for the possibility that you’re going to get some curveballs thrown your way at some point. Just don’t get so cocky in assuming that you’ve got it all figured out just yet. Lots of us had rough childhoods and managed to overcome those obstacles, but that doesn’t mean that because we did, no other obstacles are going to be put in our way. As a senior who has faced a long lifetime of many, many obstacles, I can assure you that over time, it can become harder to keep picking yourself back up. Please try not to judge other people without understanding their whole story.

and keep working hard even if you feel like you’ve already ‘made it.’ Your perception of what that even means will also change as you go through life.

You just have to keep moving forward. That's the key. If there's one thing I've learned is that when the going gets tough you simply must soldier on through and keep going. I've faced many difficulties in my 7 years of life, but I wouldn't be the success I am today if I had given up. I rolled, I crawled and now I walk. I'm so blessed. #selfless. One day I'll write my hefty leather-bound tome of wisdom. Ba da ba ba ba I'm lovin' it.
