Living Alone in the Woods

One of the reasons I want to live off grid is the air - fresh, naturally scented, very low levels of pollution. That's reason enough, right? But the whole truth is that I want to get away from having to live in the same place as smokers. I don't like smokers. They're inconsiderate and noxious, plainly scum. After years of city living, I've grown an undying hatred of them. It's gotten to the point that I don't want to live within a kilometre of them - fat chance in a city with hundreds of thousands of smokers. Case in point, I open my apartment window in our non-smoking building on the second day clear of wildfire smoke, and not an hour later some sad excuse of a neighbour is smoking a cigarette out the window and their secondhand smoke is wafting in. And you wonder at why I hate smokers so, enough that I'd rather be lonely living in the woods by myself.

Are there that many smoker's tobacco left in Vancouver or are you writing about people who smoke grass? That sh!t stinks, buy edibles people so others don't have to smell it and you're clothing when you go to the shop.

When I smoke, I do it out of sight of others and in a remote location I know I won’t be seen, smelled or heard. I only smoke a few cigarettes a week and can go months and years without. I have a hate/love relationship with smoking and I know it’s disgusting and disrespectful so I keep it a secret because I am ashamed of it.

Cigarette smoke is vomit inducing. And I quite 8 years ago. Why would they be talking about weed smell? Doesn’t even compare to cigarettes. Enough people on the streets still smoking.

Same here. I thought I was the only one that carried shame along with my pack of cigarettes.

This illustrates how intolerance multiplies.

First: make something a point of contention - "bad smoking"
Second: Enact draconian laws to oppress the "bad smokers"
Finally: Open season on the "evil smokers"

Insert: Jews, Black people, white people, anyone or anything else you want to use to control people.

or stoves can put much more dangerous levels of particulate into the air than living with a smoker does, particularly in a confined space. Just be careful how you heat your new refuge from air pollution.

I smoke in hopes of driving all the disgusting hateful judgemental people out of society and into the woods where they can be devoured by packs of ravenous wolves.

Lol, I seriously agree. Never met more hateful people than the hateful anti-smoking brigade. They may think they smell better but their hatefulness is toxic.

the whole lower mainland is blanketed with a thick dome of smog that everyone is breathing in on a daily basis...and no complaints?
