No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

I loaned out some crutches. My trust in people is super low, but I make the mistake of forgetting I shouldn't be kind from time to time. There was a good chance I would never see the crutches again. Anyway, they did return them! And not only that, they gifted me lucky bamboo. Great! But the internet suggests that if lucky bamboo dies it's 29 years of bad luck. One of the stalks is yellow. I'm thinking I was actually cursed here...

Whatever luck you believe

Maybe if you believe it then your mind could make it real to you. But if knocking on wood, throwing salt over your shoulder ,finding pennies and clovers, hasn't brought you any of the good luck you were expecting, then not really any point in believing that dead bamboo is going to do much of anything either.

It can be rehabilitated, then maybe you will have 29 years of -good- luck. I took one that was obliterated, almost totally yellow and dead because my Mom thought it lived on air (no, it's not an Air Plant Mom). I nurtured it back to life and it's been happy ever since. I even dumped the water and planted it in dirt, now it's 3 feet high! It's lucky now and so am I! Caring shouldn't bring curses.

You don't believe this was a serious comment do you? Chastising humour. Just as I wasn't serious about a revival bringing 29 years of good luck either!
