Ultimately, I am old fashioned

I don't care if I have holes in my running shoes. They are running shoes. Hence, I no longer belong in Vancouver because I do not get along with vain people. I have to move.

I've lived here all my life and never felt I didn't belong here because of any holes in my shoes or clothes.
Maybe take your ignorant head out of your ass and stop painting us all with the same brush.
It's not vain

to replace your runners when they have holes. If they have holes the shoes have broken down and you are going to injure yourself when you run.
Well....

I have running shoes with holes in the toes, too - not everybody is fussed about stuff like that. Find your kindred spirits - we're out there!

People here will point out loose threads and holes in clothes here. I have plenty. I’m pretty fine to continue on with my ripped clothes. But people like to make you squirm and feel small about it. They can spend their money on looking store-perfect. My stuff may be ripped, but I do way the hell more than they do in any given week, so it’s a choice. Look perfect and do very little and pose. Look rough because you do and accomplish a lot.

I agree one hundred percent with you. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Take care of your feet early on

I don't care about fashion and have had the same t shirts for many years, yes some with holes . But your feet need proper support or it will cost you later. I learned the hard way and flip flops are the worst. Buy the best quality running shoes that you can afford and don't think of it as fashion.
Don't run in those!
