What's in a street name?

I propose we rename Granville St to Lhamo Thondup St. In case you don't recognize the name, that is the current Dali Lama. Not only is he an all-around good guy, that would mean that the address of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China would become 3380 Lhamo Thondup St. Which would annoy them to no end.

He's a nice old man but he seems a bit insipid to me.
How about Betty White Blvd instead?

Really, insipid? Do you want him to be a some sort of savvy showstopper?

How about renaming Broadway St. to Mia Khalifa St. If we have to spend so much time on it we should at least be enjoying the ride. Maybe we should renumber the bus route too...
Not that...

... I support the PRC Government, but, you know that Tibet was, like, a theocracy until 1950 when China invaded, right? It had no elected Government.

Granville was insurmountable in insuring that we did not be annexed by the USA. But that's just history.

I had to go into the Chinese Consulate on business, and I will forever remember it because they were so nice and so very polite.

Because it now so full of desperation, homelessness and the wafting of stench from the surrounding alleys of people crapping behind dumpsters.
