2020

Can’t think of any reasons why, but my friend (or who I thought was my friend) unfollowed me on social media and has even unfollowed me a 2nd time when I tried to add them back. We never had any disagreement or even had differing views on anything. So unsure what the point of contention was. Maybe I am not cool enough or don’t fit into their curated social media presence. I guess 2020 is the year all my relationships suffer from lack of physical or digital contact and aren’t nourished like how they are in previous years. Or it could be that unemployment, underemployment, illness, poverty, uncertainty have wreaked havoc on people’s ability to maintain friendships. I don’t know. Just bummed that my world is so small now and friends are disappearing for reasons unknown. That’s all, thanks for reading.

Hides any messages and or friend request and if not for here I'd have no idea it might be happening.
Annoying updates

It's probably annoying status updates (politics, etc.)
I think

It's likely the latter - the inability to maintain friendships, for all kinds of reasons. I unfriended many a while back because I did a cull (instead of deleting my SM entirely) of people I hadn't heard a peep from in years. There are no hard feelings, I just don't see the point in having people on there who don't communicate with me, or the other way around.

I dont understand how people here in Vancouver and online can be so weird and deceitful.
Do people change over the years ?
Or is it because I now see people for who they truly are and
I would rather no friends than shitty, underhanded ones.
Times change my " friends "
Online social media platforms do not interest me, never really did.
Realism does.
The reality of it is :
None of U cared
Blackened hearts reside in jaded, jealous, blackened souls.
have you tried asking why

instead of making assumptions about their behaviour? seems easier than wasting energy on feeling hurt perhaps unnecessarily
The internet is weird

I joined Instagram and followed a group of girls that I used to hang out with through high school and into my 30s. There was no falling out or anything that would make any of us have hard feelings. We all just got jobs, moved away, got married etc. None of them follow me back. I even messaged them and got no response. It’s a strange world out there. It’s not a loss, really because I have always put more into my friendships than I’ve gotten back so in a way it’s easier not being their friend.

The first 2 Anonymouses seem like the kind of people who get culled from friend lists.

“Maybe I am not cool enough or don’t fit into their curated social media presence”
Most likely. Everyone is projecting an image in a city as sad and shallow as Vancouver.
