Cyclists versus the world!

It's so hard to be a cyclist in Vancouver. Drivers are terrible, there's dog walkers who don't give a fuck at all about their leashes or their dogs' behaviour, and it rains all the time. It is so muddy, dark, and slippery everywhere... but you know what? I love cycling. I am always going to fight you guys. We will win!

This city is full of entitled babies who get into a huff if things go sideways in the very slightest. I don't understand why they live in Vancouver if it's just sooooo challenging for their tiny little curated lives.

As a cyclist the most aggravating thing , and dangerous are driver who treat that little 'light' on the side of their car as an optional, or uselessly, blink it the moment they start turning the wheel, thinking thats how its done. We can all survive on the roads safely, cyclists, play nice, stay off the sidewalks, stop at lights, signal when safe. Drivers, realize that thing you are sat in can kill, so make sure other road users know what you are doing/ plan to do. Its not rocket science, and we can all be safe

As a cycle commuter, nothing irks me more than cyclists acting recklessly because it makes everyone else hate us. Take your turn at four way stops. Use the bike lane that they built for us. Don’t weave in and out. Use hand and voice signals when overtaking. Don’t drive through pedestrians. When I see this shit - and I see it every fucking time I ride - it’s amazing that drivers don’t kill more of us.

Maybe if cyclists started stopping at stop signs and following traffic laws, and if drivers would slow down and lose their irritation around sharing the roads, things might change.

Dog leashes? Why are you riding on the sidewalk anyway?

I love it too but...

...other cyclists can be idiots too. The ones that I find are the worst are the ones all dressed up like they’re riding in the Tour de France. As if putting on that costume means they’re a better cyclist. As if it means they’re entitled to take over the whole road. I live in an area where these types come out in droves on the weekends, and they’re about as obnoxious as it gets. They rarely use hand signals (they’re much too important for that!) and they carry on loud shouting conversations as they’re riding so that everyone can hear them coming a block away. I’m a daily cyclist, but I guess my lack of the “right” uniform means that I don’t know how to ride. Yes, drivers and pedestrians can be super-ignorant too, but these types bug me more.

that commuting was a game with winners and losers.

Wouldn't yielding to each other a little more, rather than single modes of transport vying for dominance, result in us all getting from point A to B a little faster?

im hearing a lot of "waaa waaa waaaa poor me the world should bend to my will and cater my every whim"

here's a few tips on how not to be a douch cyclist, obey they traffic laws/lights, stop at stop signs, stay in the bike lane and done weave in and out of reg traffic or on n off the side walk.
dont cycle while talking on your phone or with yoru ear buds blasting so you cant hear anything, oooo and lest we forget the helmet as well as reflective gear.

i see sooooo many of you just fly down the road, jumping off and on teh side walk, cutting thru and infront of traffic, ignoring red lights and stop signs, not wearing a brain bucket {which by law you have to} tearing thru crosswalks and cutting pedestrians off, almost slamming into them.

As some one who has been hit by a cyclist while walking on the sidewalk, while a perfectly good bike lane was right their, go get bent and run thru dry.
