Lack Of Incentive

I work in an industry that uses stat holidays for extra work days and pressures me into working. I need the time more than the money. It's not worth time and a half to me to work on a holiday. I'm already getting paid for a day. Why would I want to work a full day for a half day's extra pay?

You’re not obligated and they shouldn’t expect it. Just stand your ground and say no. You’ll be surprised how empowering it feels.

I am in post secondary and for the first time during my degree am taking 4 days off for mental health during Thanksgiving.
Chronic illnesses and abrupt changes to mental and physical health can not be overlooked this year.
Do what is good for you. There are consequences to actions in life. There are also consequences this year to not giving self care and self compassion to most attention. Happy Thanksgiving. :)

You can be bumped up up to a new tax bracket and end up paying more income tax... and end up not making anything more that's worth it.

I just did a little research and found that the Federal tax rates for 2020 are 15% on the first $48,535, plus 20.5% on the next $48,534. This person could be teetering on that fine line of the higher bracket but how likely could that be? Even if you get put in the higher bracket you only pay the higher percentage on the income there after the first $48k. If you ask me, any OT is good and should be considered if you feel you need to get ahead a little.

Been really struggling with severe depression. Haven't been able to finish a week of work in a couple months. Never any mention of a sick day. Been with the company for years; now that i'm sick, it seems like i'm not wanted there. Even though stress from working with people not wearing masks or distancing has contributed to my deteriorated mental state and I took this week off and got tested: no mention of sick pay. The company doesn't care about me and neither do I anymore.
