You're recycling. The textile industry is one of the major polluting industries in the world. The production and distribution of the crops, fibres, and garments used in fashion all contribute to differing form of environmental pollution, including water, air, and soil pollution.

These masks aren't helping matters much. Some people think it's a good idea to flush the paper ones down the toilet, clogging the Vancouver's sewer infrastructure.

I would not touch someone’s aerosol-laden mask with a 10 foot pole. Have fun upcycling!

Do it. If they are any sort of fabric then washing is a great way to recycle what some imbecile littered.

Do you seriously think a mask washed in piping hot water with soap and a bit of bleach, then dried in a super hot dryer will be dangerous? Not. Recycling is good.

I hear the point that properly washing and reusing the mask is a good idea. And yet I’m having a knee jerk reaction that wants to say Nope!

The same reason why I don’t pick up abandoned underwear. Or even buy it used in a thrift store.

And yet I’ll go to a hotel and use their linens or even at the hospital.

So it leaves me to wonder - does the hospital provide and wash face masks for staff and patients? If so then maybe it IS okay.

Whoever this "mask guy" is, he's not as funny as he thinks he is.
