Tonights conversation with friends

I let all unknown calls go to voice mail. If we all do this then we could beat the scammers.

Sometime there are people we know who don't have a cel phone or their battery died or phone got dropped (maybe in water) & damaged and they''re calling from a pay phone or some store that was nice enough to let them use their phone (& so the weird number on the call display) but you're so terrified of talking to someone you don't know/getting scammed that they end up having to leave a message on your voicemail which you don't check intil hours later. At least with landlines and answering machines you can screen the calls while the person is leaving a message (or not) and quickly pick up the phone if it's someone you know.
If someone calls (cel or landline) and I don't recognize the number (or there is no number) I just pick up the phone but don't say anything. If it's a sale/scam they either don't say anything because you haven't caused the call to go thru hy saying "hello" and the call gets dropped (they don't want to pay the long distance) or there is a pause then a click that tell's you it's a long distance sale/scam call and someone starts saying "hello? hello??" in a very not-Canadian/not-NorthAmerican accent and then it's up to you whether you want to speak with them, hang up, or just not say anything and wait for them to hang up first.

That's how it rolls. If someone can't be seen on caller ID, so sad too bad. I never, ever pick up if I don't know who it is.

Why should I take a call from someone who won't identify themselves?
I also wouldn't answer my door if, when I look through the peephole, I can see that the person is hiding their face...

Block them

On your cellphone. They use fake numbers anyways, and you can block by area code. Most nowadays come out of a New York area code, and I'm not expecting anyone to call from New York,so they're blocked and have stopped
