Travel...

I know I shouldn't travel... I know there's no excuse... But I live alone and don't work... I have the ability to quarantine there and when I get back... I don't see anybody here... I've fallen in love and can't imagine holding out any longer... I can't tell any of my friends or family for shame... Not of him, but of the fact I plan on leaving the country...

for all the reasons you have listed, and most importantly the fact that you would quarantine there and here, I don't see why it's a problem. yes, there is a heightened risk to you (and to him) but you would be being responsible and careful-love is important too. This sounds like a much more socially responsible plan then going to house parties or even my life where I work as a teacher and am in contact with 60 + kids every week in a small room. We have to still live our lives and make some choices and it's all about risk assessment. Hopefully you have someone who can support you.

If it were illegal to travel, the airlines would be shut down and borders closed. I’m thinking of going somewhere myself. Just be cautious.

I'm so envious, I'd near kill to get the hell out of Vancouver to some place warm, exotic and steeped in history and culture.

Maybe not warm & exotic
but Vancouver DOES have history/culture or do you not count First Nations in your idea of those things?

That's the exception. Only in Canada can people from all over the world immigrate and somehow assimilate to something incredibly dull. Maybe that's why Canada tried to commit cultural genocide against the 1st nations people? Some would argue it was full-fledged genocide. The nail that sticks up gets hammered down in Canada, historically. Vancouver's culture is bland at best and arts and theatre largely amateurish, with an occasional exception. The cities a facade and the only people fooled into thinking otherwise are from small town BC, Alberta, Sask or Manitoba.

Because of COVID-19, it's become an open air prison and there isn't a day that goes by I don't want to leave.

Absolutely. And that’s obvious if anyone looks at the booming tourism industry (in normal times). There’s more to see than just tropical! I’ve lived in the tropics too, and I missed the seasons!

Like the food trucks and micro breweries, right? Vancouver's answer to everything, food trucks and micro breweries.
