Anti-Vaccination

My son-in-law is American and does not believe in vaccinating my grandchildren. My daughter will just follow his lead. Every year they go on a 3 to 4 week vacation and this is the time I vaccinate my grandchildren without telling them. I understand what I am doing is wrong but I couldn't live with myself if my grandchildren got the measles or some other deadly disease. I have to hear this idiot brag about how none of his children got sick because vaccinations are a liberal hoax every single Christmas and Thanksgiving though. I know what I did was wrong but it was so right and I can live with the consequences.

Might be time to tell them...
Confirmation bias is a real thing.

Good on you

The welfare of these children are what's important. They'll have you and not their misguided idiot parents to thank for the rest of their lives.

Does he know Christmas is rooted in a pagan winter solstice ritual or does he really believe it had something to do with Jesus? He sounds nuts, and probably voted for Trump. Maybe you need to kidnap your daughter and deprogram her, she could be a part of a cult.

Wow... that is huge

I understand your motives, but that’s their child, and that is a huge betrayal. You’ll eventually have to fess up as this needs to be in their permanent medical file as it can’t be undone.

Dang Grandma!

You're a badass! Seriously though. Life is complicated and tough choices need to be made for the good of all people. Good work grandma.

I am completely in support of vaccines. That said, there are real risks (extremely small) associated with them. The 2009 Influenza and H1N1 vaccines immediately come to mind with a very small number of GBS cases caused, with potentially associated deaths.

I get vaccinated, including yearly influenza vaccines. If I develop GBS or some other problem, it is on me as I chose to get a vaccination. I completely respect your desire to have your grandchildren vaccinated, but I would hope that you understand the responsibility you are taking. Additionally, I would hope that you don’t keep it a secret because if by a stroke of very bad luck your grandchildren are in the extreme minority that suffer a negative reaction, honesty about receiving a vaccination could potentially save their lives when it comes to affecting an effective treatment.

Vaccines are extremely safe, but there are cases where problems develop, and very, very rarely, death. Vaccines do save far more lives than they take. As long as you are making the decision with all the information, then more power to you.

Sounds like you already failed as a parent, now you want to make decisions for your daughter's kids without her knowledge? Hasn't she suffered enough?

That is absolutely horrible

Daughter married a total douchebag......Not really sure you should be doing what you are doing. If they ever find out you could and likely would be criminally charged.

and you end up having to do a wrong thing in order to do the right thing. That's your dilemma.
Just be prepared for the shit to hit the fan when the truth eventually comes out.
Your son-in-law sounds like he would not tolerate being undermined or disobeyed.
