Hope

Hope has been tormenting me for years. My hope is not grounded in any reality. It exists despite all evidence to the contrary, and no matter how much I can understand the impossibility of what I hope for, it remains. In Greek mythology Pandora accidentally releases all the evils into the world, but closes her box in time for hope to remain. So hope can be understood to be an evil, and it's the one evil I can't seem to be rid of.

I wasn't the one who inverted it.

was the name of the first strip club I ever went to. It was downtown in what had been an old classy theater my parents had seen entertainments in back in the 40s. It later became a live music venue named after a great silent era film star. How about them golden apples?

I've been embedded in similar narratives. Its a mental echo chamber that's hard to escape from.
Have you come across the quandry of absurdism? The endless quest of seeking meaning in life even when life is inherently meaningless. Sartre's book Nausa help me at a different time in my life.
if nothing you do matters, then all that matters is what you do.

Unless you have a control implant in your brain and you lack freewill and inner strength, you just choose your reality and which side you're on. Light vs darkness. I'll stay in the light.

Rules for happiness: something to do, someone to love, something to hope for.
