So you’re lumping all people who have a dog together? As if every one of us treats our dogs like that. Get a grip. Just because this one woman can’t differentiate between her dog and a person doesn’t mean we’re all like that. Obviously all animals deserve to be treated with compassion and kindness. Dogs aren’t human and I think it’s insulting when people treat them as if they are. Respect the species is my personal motto. My dogs have all been loved immensely and very well trained too. It’s possible to do both.

I can't say this face to face, but pet owners are more like slave owners than "fur parents". I'm not comparing animals to people - all I'm saying is that they are buying a sentient creature for their own use. It's selfish and weird. I think its wrong to buy animals and confine them to suit one's emotional needs. Get a hobby. Make a friend. Owning a pet just makes you a weirdo who only talks about your pet.

Dogs are animals. They think like an animal, not a person. These people who treat dogs like infants create a stressed out spoiled animal. Dogs need to be treated like dogs to be happy, that includes working for treats and being given commands. These clueless owners need to watch a few seasons of Dog Whisperer and learn from experts. People like this are bad owners.

We adore our dogs, we spoil them a little and we treat them much to nicely sometimes, BUT we trained the hell out of them. They behave or they get removed, they will do as I tell them I do not ask I TELL them. They are dogs and I am the master.

Most people don't buy pets to own them like slaves. Come on. It's about as far away as you can get from selfish or weird. It's for the obvious, affection and companionship. Dogs treated well and appropriately are super happy. The dog in our family brings life changing joy to everyone around her, but it's for her too. When we get together she is beside herself with happiness and so am I. She has made our lives so much better and loves us all too, as a dog does. No anthropomorphism involved. You can love a pet and still respect what they need as animals with their own unique needs.
