A love for Main Street

Slowly but surely it is changing. Hipster restaurants that made vegetarianism a culture in east van have parted ways for an ethnic explosion of newness. a vibrance of fresh tastes and fresh styles. When the foundation closed, it felt like the end of an era, one that started with the foundation. I felt like my 20's were a revolution along Main Street, but I got old. to see the new wave coming and it being a youth wave of deliciousness warms my soul.

I lived on main st for a decade and watched it change. After the hipsters got renovicted, they only worked at the stores.
It seems like you have a beef with vegetarian options but there are still some fantastic veg places like chickpea, meet and the kind cafe. That fancy salad place at Broadway deserves to go under (poor business plan) and the vegan burger place but that's just because their food isnt very good
It's no joke having the close a business. Someone loses their life savings every time. Sorry if it doesn't fit in with what you like.

I never...

... really found much to do on Main Street, I much preferred Granville downtown---movies, pool hall, cheap pizza, book stores, the mall, etc.

What happened to the little grocery shop with the orange sign near 28th. It was run by a friendly young Asian couple, one day it closed out of nowhere, people wrote on the door asking what happened. Logan was that guys name. This was about 5 years ago. Where did they go? What happened?

Terrible food, terrible service, terrible music, terrible atmosphere, dark, freezing cold, nasty bathrooms, shall I go on? I wasn’t surprised that it closed. The overall attitude was insufferable and I think people just stopped putting up with it. They “out-cooled” the neighbourhood. Bye!

I always loved the corner of main and broadway. I managed to visit vancouver last summer after years away and was happy to see Congee noodle house still there (and prices about the same I think!) I used to love Reno's too. What a fascinating cast of characters it would bring in. The wallflower is all the right vibes, and I could always count on finding everyone I knew (or was supposed to know) sitting at gene.

Totally agree with all of this. Never understood the romance with that place.

Rumpus Room!

I was sad when the Rumpus Room closed down. But then the Foundation left and the Rumpus Room came back. I was so happy! What a fun bar! Cheers! Yeah Main and Broadway is great!

It's a mystery how the foundation folded when it had cheap food and lineups all night but the I Dian place next door was always empty and survived

The black lodge’s food is even worse. Honestly as a decade long vegan I am confident saying the veg restaurants in this town have some major catching up to do. Looking for some good veg options? Go to an Indian restaurant.
