Childhood bullies

I’ve given it some thought and I think all the major bullies I had to deal with as a child can be seen as similar to the villains in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy-Scarecrow, Joker and Bane respectively.

Someone else has to deal with. Your neighbours aren't therapists. You have access to the internet, there's resources on healthlinkbc.ca.

Your neighbour isn't equipped to help you. Call 310-6789 for crisis intervention.

in an apartheid red-neck cowboy town in 1950's Alberta and was getting bullied terribly. My dad would swim at the YMCA and he saw there was a judo class being taught by one of Japanese who had been scooped of the Coast in WW2 and held in an internment camp. This Japanese man stayed in the town after the war ended and was the judo instructor in the Y. My dad asked me if i wanted to try judo and i said "Sure." Well i'm no super athlete but I took to the martial arts and it didn't take long to learn it ain't the size of the dog in the fight. Its the size (and skill) of the fight in the dog :-) Strange thing. Up to this day, wherever I now am, i find that most bully bozos who know nothing about me; they usually just have a sense to leave me alone. Another thing I've found is that there are various types of martial arts schools and I've found the best ones are the non-macho and non-stiff styles that emphasize respect of self and others. The way this world is getting i would recommend that parents be proactive to equip their children with these survival skills.

What people don't think about is bullies were bullied before they turned it on others. A kid doesn't wake up and just one day become an asshole.
I was a BIT of one for a couple years, I think of it sometimes and feel just awful. Buy before I became an asshole, It happened to me first at home and school. I quickly learned I need to never let this happen to me, and so I became tough, really tough. So from my elementary bullying days, of kids chasing me and calling me names etc... to slight transition of "power" in Jr high to being the boss in high school. I wasn't going out and picking on people, but I was no saint and did some shitty things...
But that wasn't me. It was a damaged kid trying to survive, many, many, many like me didn't.
