Horrible

I volunteer at a soup kitchen and what I see are hundreds of men ashamed to be asking for help but no women. Many work two or three jobs and are still homeless. Some comment about being married with children but are divorced and now must live on the streets. The look of despair and isolation on their faces is something I cannot forget.

I'm a woman

I've gone to union gospel and the sally ann. Wasn't the only woman either. Had some nice chats with the other people.
The only look of despair was having to listen to a sermon before getting to the food. ;)

What’s your point?

I’m not sure why you’re mentioning that you don’t see any women. Are you suggesting that it’s only men who are poor and need help? I’m sorry but to me your “confession” sounds less like you’re talking about poor people, and more like you’re suggesting that men have it worse. Particularly the part about divorced guys. There are just as many poor divorced women out here too. Many of them are likely stuck looking after the kids as well as themselves. Being poor sucks for everyone, not just men.

My friend that has died now was a homeless woman and she said she was scared to go to the soup kitchens because the men were always hitting on her.

This could happen to almost anyone. I feel fortunate so far that it has not happened to me latey. I was homeless temporarily when I was younger but I was in a warmer cilmate at the time. I shop lift for sandwiches because I had no money to buy anything with.

The women go to shelters specifically for women. They have their own sup kitchens and they are full of women and occasionally their children

Men have far higher rates of suicide and drug use than women.
women can live off a man if they want to. men dont have that option.

Nice job trying to scare women.
There are though some shitty options out in great old Vancouver to help people in need.
Road side garabage hand outs.
Here choke on an old, dry, huge bag of nacho chips, no dip though !
Is that the best the city can do ?
Try taking your hands out of your damn pockets politician's.
Shame the city of Vancouver just seems to only care about making the elites comfortable, about 2% of the citys population.
And they dont really need much do they huh.
Just the liquor store to be open late !!
People should matter !
Everyone should have a safe place to lay their heads at night and proper food , health care, dental.
Why do we not fight for that ?
Anyone care fall from grace !
Its just one miss step.

Men will date and even cohabitate with a woman with no job, or who is underemployed.
It never happens the other way around.

You’re completely delusional if you genuinely believe that men never sponge off of women! In the last century possibly, but even then it happened all the time. I truly have no idea why so many men actually believe that it’s always the guy who pays for everything. I have always paid for half of everything (or else I was at home after recently giving birth in which case I was also taking care of the entire household tasks including childcare). In my present (long term) relationship, my guy is frequently unemployed (seasonal) and I am usually paying for EVERYTHING. I also know two other women who are completely supporting their entire households, including their unemployed partners. Get educated!

Have you considered why women may have their own soup kitchens and shelters?
