The Black Mirror

I'm often curious about the things people are drawn to watch in their spare time. I've come to realize that what I watch is directly related to something I feel is lacking in my own life. What is your viewing appetite telling you? For me, I wonder if I'm craving excellence, finding my niche, and a desire for acceptance and understanding.

Different things for different reasons

If I need cheering up, I watch comedy. If I need calming down, it's HGTV. When the doctors couldn't diagnose me, I watched every episode of House and Untold Stories of the ER! Didn't help, but at least it gave me a sense of agency.

Hmm, so much to think about. Perhaps I miss mystery. Making new acquaintances. I just don't know...

My viewing appetite is telling me I have an appetite lol. And that I admire the entrepreneurial spirit and the alchemy involved in preparing something just right.

I hadn't thought of that before. For me that would mean I must be trying to leave this world. My viewing choices almost always take me either out to space or back in time.

Agreed. It's all trips to space or aliens. I don't want to be on earth right now.

I might consider your draw to space and the past could be a desire to return to more quiet, peaceful, and simpler times. Maybe even a need for relevance where every person counts and serves a crucial role for survival. Escape. A desire to step back and gain perspective, even regain hope for the future. Shrugs. Hard to say.
