Bitcoin=LSD

It was years ago at a party a friend of a friend was telling me about these "bitcoins" and I thought it sounded pretty neat but I never did anything to follow up on it. Boy did I ever miss the boat! Being old and not much of a tech person, I didn't really understand what the deal was until I made the effort to jump through some of the hoops and get on the inside of this thing. I see it now! Amazing stuff, I feel like I dropped acid or something. Better late than never! This is not financial advice & I am not a financial advisor...also I really have got no money anyway but from a mental health perspective I've found that learning about something that's a new thing for me has really turned my whole entire mindset around.

... they don't teach it in schools, like, at all.

Cryptography is military-grade stuff ;)

You can learn new stuff and get that buzz without betting your shirt. There are tons of really good free courses online now. I'm 60 and learning neuroscience. It's really cool - I enjoyed science as a child but was pushed towards the arts because I was a girl. I'm retired now so I can study whatever I like!

I’m also learning a lot online. Spinal surgery. One day... soon... I’ll have my spine/back fixed. I’m having doubts though... Pretty sure I’m going to need a much larger three-way mirror. My dog’s doing a really good job at retrieving the right instruments so far. Bex!! Scalpel!

My psychiatrist keeps encouraging me to take up some courses. He won’t be thrilled when there on psychiatric medications. What a bunch of con artists. Psychologists are a different breed. They actually do shit. Paid less on average for some funny reason. I would of thought a glorified prescription writer would make less than someone who actually hears your problems, then figures out real ways to solve them. Not just sedate the poor souls. Mind you... there’s a time and place for meds... just not ten years of tranquilizers and no behavioural therapy.

I wouldn’t put much stock in “missing the boat” with it. My guess is you have a type of confirmation bias where you are remembering this one thing you didn’t do and missed out on and discarding all the things you didn’t do that ended up failing so your inaction was the the correct choice in the long run. Life is a glorious mix of hits and misses.

Bit coin
Firstly is not even a coin and if you forget or loose your password,
Well
You are screwed cause there is no customer service help or password resets.
You get so many trys to access your password to your account and then Bam its not your fake money anymore.
You know online is a shady place maybe some passwords get reset on people for no reason other than to keep your precious bit coins.
I wonder what happens to all the money people can no longer acess, who gets that?
And apparently its a lot of money.
When I say money I mean "shit coins "
Lol
Stock market is a scam too.
Bloody everything is !!
Damn

The dark side of crypto

According to The Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance in a recent (Feb 10th) study, the energy required to mine new coins and maintain the blockchain of trades is more than the energy consumption of Argentina. If Bitcoin were a country, it would rank 30th in energy consumption. Crypto is helping destroy our world.

That’s a misleading statement. It’s true that some post-secondary institutions do offer reduced fees or free courses to seniors, most of them do not provide any credits for said courses, and many of them only apply to those over age 65. So it’s not like seniors can get a degree for nothing or anything like that. The majority of the courses offered tend to be in “general interest” areas (whatever that means).
