Crossroads

I need to decide within the next month or two if I can afford to stay here. I am almost out of money, covid ruined my work. Do I sell everything, and go home to the east coast? Or do I bunker down, get whatever job I can, and continue to exist barely making the rent and food? I need to make a major life decision and have no one to talk to. I change my mind every day, I'm really stressed about it. I mean...what can you do when you just don't know what to do?

Go home.

You are getting whipped by the city you are struggling to live in. It's not worth the trouble.

Your supposed to be doing better, not worse.

Think of it this way

If you go home to the east coast you can always come back if you want.
I think you should go east and try your luck. You have nothing to lose at this point and sometimes you need to make a change in order for good things to happen.
Best of luck to you!

I hear ya.
Me too.
Do what you think is best for you.
My advice cause people are shit and only think of themselves most of the time.
Find your happiness or passion.
I'm still looking for mine :)

The rest of Canada blows so maybe head further west. The island? That’s a tough one. I’m about ready to shoot myself.

Weigh it up

What's keeping you here? Are you happy? Can you realistically afford to live the kind of life you want here? Do you like the people here? On the other hand, what do you think you would gain or lose by going home? And like someone else said, there are other places. If you prefer the west coast, you could go inland or to the islands. Or north. Whatever you do, you'll soon find out if it was the right decision. I went home and hated it. I'm now looking for a third option.

The first thing you need to do is grow up and be an adult. The second thing is to make a decision in your life about Your life. The third thing is to shut up and stop sulking because life IS hard. It fucking sucks a lot of the time. Own your life and make your own decisions. You don’t need others to convince you to do something. What do YOU want? Figure that out and pull the trigger.

A contrasting comment.

COVID did not ruin anything. Covid is a hurdle in life like any other. How you adapt is all on you. For example, I was in the middle of a move last March when it hit. I found myself suddenly homeless. Rather than tell you tales of woe, I will simply say that it was my choice how I reacted. with humour or with anger. you have the same to choice. positive or negative. good luck.

If the apocalypse was about to happen tomorrow, where would you most like to spend your remaining time?

I completely understand how you feel as I'm thinking of the same thing.I have a love/hate relationship with this city and with losing my job due to Covid, moving is on my mind.I've been looking for work here but it's grim. All my family is back east and I haven't seen them in two years. It's becoming a real struggle to live here and like you,I can't make up my mind.Maybe I'll just flip a coin.

Employment prospects dependent

Through some research online, are you more able to find work here on the West Coast, or better on the East Coast? You already know how much you need to hustle here to make money to live. I don’t know what industry you work in but if it’s more lucrative elsewhere, go there. From someone who moved to another country, without knowing how to read or speak the local language of my new place of employment. It was worth the risk to move, even though everything was completely uncertain. Even my employed friends are struggling in Vancouver.
