Damn calendars

Apparently the calendar makers devised a little twist of the dagger to the heart of us singletons, that both Valentines and Family Day come so close together, just to remind us that we are unqualified for either.

Social fabric has come undone leaving us all stranded together in a world of individuals

Were you a test tube baby?
Do you really have NO family?
Parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and cousins.
Why create more family when you already have family?
And old friends can become like family as well.
No need to add to the over-population problem.

I'd upvote this but someone is deliberately tampering with the voting system so there's no point.

Ummm...not exactly

Family Day falls on the 3rd Monday in February each year. It’s just a coincidence.

I was happy to see the two tied together! Valentine's day can be for everyone. We need to move past the lovers only thing. Family or friends are included, anyone we love!

... a little-known fact that Calendars are fundamentally religious, used to coordinate religious festivals. That is why i am a conscientious objector to calendars, in my world the only time is now.

I have a sister who had an admirer. This was years ago. Her admirer bought her a Coach purse. Her response was, “We aren’t even a couple, wtf?” Her response was acceptable. But then she told him no. AND KEPT the purse and sold it on Craigslist. She’s more pious than me because she’s a faithful Christian. Ahhh, family.

It's the last calendar holiday that hasn't been kaiboshed by corona and now that's over. Next Whatever Day won't be as bad

I’m not a huge fan of organized religion... you do realize most (if not all) are based on our orbit around the sun or the moon around earth. Seems a little scientific, no?

As many young men do, I had a "serious" girlfriend growing up---we were to be married. To quote Dr. Hannibal Lecter, one of my "sticky fumblings" was buying some jewelry. It wasn't that expensive, but it was well received.

Anyway, we broke up and she never gave it back! She also kept things I'd had at her place, like records, and she never offered to give them back.

I think they should train young women on tese things in school. If you break up with the guy, you don't have to repay him for the flowers he bought you, but you do give back any rings, jewels, etc. You're not a hooker collecting payment, these things were given on the assumption we were remaining together.
