First must come acknowledgement and you sound like you are starting to take an honest look at yourself. Now the choice of benevolence or malevolence is up to your own free will. Cream rises and sh*t sinks. Walk good sisters and brothers.

Now that you know this, find out why you were drinking in the first place. People don't engage in self-destructive behaviour for no reason. So figure out the reason(s) and get some help working through them. A certified counsellor can help you figure out who you are under the layers of your trauma. Find and develop the tools to make constructive, healthy changes in your life that are meaningful to you. Don't let your demons win. Best of luck!!

Stay sober and be yourself. Maybe those obnoxious sober jerks are the actual JERKS. Just be you. But remain sober. They’ll show their true colours eventually. They always do.

Exiled myself from my community and an abusive relationship in a place where it was socially acceptable. Didn't drink regularly until my 30s. Now I'm facing more loneliness than ever and just have to face it that I have a problem.
