Arrested development

I feel lost and behind in life this year. Most of my past school friends are married with kids while I've moved back in with the parents. They're about to retire so the situation has been a good bonding exercise, but it has exacted a toll on my sanity. I just want to hang out with people in my age group again.

It is tough to move back home as an adult. I had to do it and I dreaded it. It was frustrating at first, but as soon as I realized that there were now 3 adults in the room our relationship became deeper and closer. The parental moves were there, but I learned to navigate it back to an adult discussion. They weren’t going to accept my maturity, but I had to insist for my own sanity and it worked!
That was a long time ago now, but looking back I appreciate being able to connect with my parents on a level that wasn’t there when I was younger. That adult connection has stayed since then.
Hang in there, you might teach them a thing or too!

Marriage is like a garage sale. From a distance it looks like it could be interesting. But up close, it's just a ton if sh’t you don't need.

Consider that

some parents also would like to hang out with those their own age.

If you’re a guy hesitant to tie the knot, don’t be. Just be certain to never have your hearing checked. Natural is the idea. Just let it go. What?!!

Find some people your own age and zoom them. Do something fun like improv. It's saved my sanity in a similar situation recently.
