No friends

I have zero close friends. My BF asked me to merry him last year and I'm thankful for the pandemic as I had no one to ask to be my maid of honor. He has tons of friends so no problem picking a best man but it will be an odd wedding....

This is worrying to me because you don't talk about why you don't have any friends. It makes me wonder, did you have friends before this relationship? If so, has he encouraged you to see them? Or wanted all your time for himself? Separating people from their friends makes them much more vulnerable, that's why it worries me. I would focus on making some connections or renewing past friendships to help support me regardless of any marriage plans. And if he objects or gets in the way, then you know where the problem is. I'm sorry to say, but it's a common abuse tactic to first isolate your target. Find out before you marry.

My wife and I didn't have any close friends but we got married without the wedding. We did it in Thailand so with all the paperwork and translations it was under 300$. Plenty of wedding day money saved for important things.

You’re right. Although my ex didn’t try to “forbid” me from seeing my friends and family, he certainly made it difficult. He refused to socialize with my friends present, and never wanted me to be around his friends either. I had a small group of close friends when we met, but after me spending years with him, my friends gradually faded out of my life other than occasional get togethers. He always told me that we just needed each other, and would be pouty and sullen when I’d insist on seeing my friends or family. He tried to make me choose between them or him, but any time I’d suggest that he was doing that, he’d immediately get angry and tell me that I was imagining it. The guy is a narcissist. If that’s what’s happening with the Op, then definitely I’d be very concerned too.

If you knew no friends like I know no friends

Sweetheart you're getting married: You only need to cultivate one friendship. I've had no friends for so long it's antediluvian. I've molested the memory of anyone I ever knew. The only time I see anyone from the past is in the obits

We eloped for the same reason--no close friends or family to invite. Best wishes for a happy marriage!
