Kimmy's Convenience

I knew a girl. She worked in a bar. I told her one night that I loved her. She snapped back "is that what you told -----?" She shut me down because she thought I was a playboy. It's true that I had had feelings for----- but I actually never told her. After she said that I was really stung and never tried with her again. Many years later I still dream about her. Christ does that ever hurt! All this time and I've still never felt like that about anyone. The lesson has no endeth

So you supposedly loved this girl and you gave up because she was showing anxiety about whether or not your feelings were genuine? Sorry but you’re obviously too delicate for this world if that’s all it takes to make you give up on love. SMH.

Hey OP

Sounds like a lot going on in that heart of yours, and hers. The "once bitten, twice shy" trauma response is very real. I've been there and I get where you're coming from.

I can understand her response too. It sucks to feel like you're part of a "collection" of people as opposed to feeling the radiance of someone's whole heart. The former feels as though you are investing significantly in a situation where you are expendable and could be traded in at any time.

In any case, there are no easy solutions. This may be an instance of needing to do a deep dive into core wounds and root causes of fear, which tends to be a hairy and fraught experience any way you slice it.

I hope you are able to find peace and happiness in the present in whatever form that takes for you. Good luck, OP.

Take it from someone who knows.

You've built this up in your head a bit too much. You have created a fantasy. This has been whipped up into something that doesn't exist. I don't mean this to come across as critical, because I've been guilty of the exact same behavior myself. When the pandemic is finally in the rearview mirror, you need to branch out. Meet new people. Hell, go on a few blind dates. It's character building. You need to have real experiences and stop living in your head so much. Good luck.

Fall for a girl that works in a bar, a server or bartender….just don’t.
