Office Life

I have been working from home since last March and I never realized how much of my day was wasted on useless office birthday parties and events. A lot of productivity is lost just due to the workplace drama that occurs on a daily basis. So and so is married and slept with so and so. This person is talking about you behind your back and is trying to get you fired. Don't get me wrong I miss going to coffee and some of the social interactions at work. I don't miss the 1 hour commute and being forced to sit at a cubicle all day long. Most people don't realize whether you have 4 hours of work or 8 hours of work you're spending a large amount of your day just trying to look busy or stretch out your work for the day. Saving so much money not having to drive to work, pay for parking, or childcare expenses. I am getting twice as much work done and I hope I never go back to the office.

Good for you

Can’t say I blame you. What better way to get work done then in the peace and safety of your own home? Who wants to deal with workplace drama. I’d much rather work at home any day.

No kidding

I have never gone to any of the office parties in all these years I’ve worked at my job. From what I’ve heard, people at those parties get hammered as fuck and make complete fools of themselves. I’d rather not get caught up in the middle of all the chaos. No thanks. Give me a nice quiet evening with some cannabis and a sexy goddess any day.

Working at home is great. No longer do I have to deal with the following:
- my towels being stolen
- the weird shipping woman
- people commenting on my food, drinks, clothes, desk
- watching all the people suck up to superiors
- pressured to buy baby shower gifts for people I don’t even speak to
- the jealousy
- trying to concentrate on my work around ppl every day
WFH forever! Of course I miss maybe 2-3 people out of 300. But that 1% I can hang with them after I’m vaccinated =)

Yeah, I know.

On average a typical person spends 2.5 hours a day gossiping, backstabbing, turning people against one another and forming coalitions to ostracize some poor sod, according to a study I read. Try to work from home. Try not to be typical.

What kind of job is that?

OMG, where on earth do you find a job that leaves you with this time to "stretch out"? Seriously? My own experience - impossibly heavy workloads, never enough time, unpaid overtime every day. I ate lunch at my desk or in the car between meetings, no "coffee breaks". Never took more than one week off at a time because otherwise, I'd be creamed on return, no hope of catching up.

Birthday parties were a problem as my staff jumped to 57. It was like everything stopped and we would all have fake smiles and eat shot cake every week. I changed it. Now every birthday boy/girl gets a half day off or they can bank it.
