Being Ugly

I was wearing a mask today and lots of women looked at me to check me out. I felt happy. I took my mask off for the rest of the walk home and I don't think one woman looked at me. Attractive people have no idea how easy life is for them...

It gets worse, a study suggests that attractive people are more conformist, so they take full advantage of being attractive in life. Careers, mates etc... Less attractive people need to be more resilient and flexible, if that makes you feel better?

A woman

I hear you. I have gotten more looks this past year while masked than I have in my entire lifetime.

Either some people like OP and me are significantly more attractive from the bridge of the nose upward or everyone’s just trying to mentally undress each other’s faces as the lust factor reaches situation critical.

Stop internalizing this self hatred pity party. There are a sh** ton of unconventional looking people out here doing great things, with the confidence to flirt with anyone they want to. You never know what women's taste are, & women can have very unconventional taste. Stop making excuses to sit on the sidelines and mope. It's boring. Start living. FFS.

keep in mind

Shallow world we live in apparently.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and
if we all looked the same wouldn't that be a damn boring world.
Plus it's what you have going on inside that really counts cause beauty tends to fade.
And who gets to judge what's beautiful.
Whatever !

It's worse if you are female

because our first value base is our looks and we're suppose to want to get in a relationship and have kids and since most guys are visually-stimulated (hence hot chicks in porn) we need to be attractive (enough) for a guy to want to be/stay in a relationship (rather than just be a one night stand) with us. And afterwards, don't you dare cut your hair or gain weight!

Yes, ugly guys, we realize it can be hard for you too... as young women are often superficial too, but we often soon learn that it's how a guy treats you that's the most important thing. (kind, thoughtful, respectful, etc)

This is a well-studied problem academically. You're sort of repeating a cliche I hear. I work with disabled people and often times having conversations with people about the quite real limitation disabled people can have results in them becoming aggressive and insisting that I'm saying disabled people can't do anything. That's not what I'm saying I'm saying that for example I've had conversations with people who were supposedly professionals in healthcare who took great offense at me suggesting that someone with down syndrome would have less capacity in life to do things like find employment and find a mate. It was quite surreal because I know they know all of the physiology of people with down syndrome and the sort of heart problems they can have and all of that but for some reason talking about their social success with somehow me being an offensive bigot. It's all well and fine to tell people that they should not limit themselves, and that's true it's not good for someone to have a stereotyped view of themselves as a member of a class rather than an individual who happens to have certain properties that members of that class have, but at the end of the day if you're 5'4 and 50 lb overweight and your heart doesn't pump too well you're not going to be playing in the NBA. Increasingly in our society even things that are grandparents took for granted like hooking up and well there was no birth control so you have kids, are things that are only for a certain class of people. There have been articles recently about the situation people with disabilities in British Columbia on government assistance face. A disabled person gets about I think it's now $1,300 a month. If that disabled person finds a spouse or even a living girlfriend in some cases that makes more than that amount of money then they get all of their assistance taken away by the government again more or less. So there are all sorts of social and psychological and physical factors that influence what people can and cannot do in life and the idea that everybody who isn't succeeding just has internalized some oppression, I think that's oppressive because it converts the very real challenges people have into some sort of psychological problem on their part.
