Sad awareness
posted June 1st, 2021 at 1:53 AM
When this pandemic forced mass shutdowns, people had a lot of time to reflect. I hoped people could figure out themselves and the things that truly matter, like our relationships with others and the value of our fellow human beings. But seeing how people are acting now, I have lost all hope for humanity overall.
Most people have reverted to the same behaviors as if nothing happened if not worse. They learned nothing, not about themselves, not about the value of others, nothing.
Not a damn thing.
After a huge time out, most people just paused their minds. I dread things returning to normal. Being a selfish douche seems to be the new norm.
What will it take?

Many people have had no time out at all, and in fact, for some of us, this has meant less free time than ever. Often when we are judging others as you did, we're applying our circumstances to them, which is inappropriate and generates a lot of angst and unpleasantness. Maybe if everyone were in your shoes, but we aren't.

This is exactly the way that I feel. There was so much talk of change, reform, improvement but I just don't see it.Even the "be kind" motto has become irrelevant. Most of humanity sickens me and very unfortunately, nothing has changed. There's this desperation to get back to "normal" but what did that even mean before the pandemic? Mindless consumerism? Destruction of the planet? The rich profiting off the poor??? You mean that "normal"?? Thank you for posting this. It's good to know I'm not alone in feeling this way. When I try to discuss this with others, they just don't get it.I'm sure there are others out there that feel the way we do.

Climate change will make this pandemic look silly, so if these people are dicks during a pandemic they'll be dicks with the chaos climate change will cause.

of balancing the scales.
Shit’s been blown wide open in the past year by more than just the pandemic and the status quo can no longer hold.
People who think they are going “back to normal” are in for a wild karmic ride.

Why don't you inspire us all by relating what you have learned about yourself during this period of reflection?
I don't think so

I'm not sure how reading constantly about deaths and new variants of a contagion, being afraid for our health in high risk jobs, cancelling huge events, cancelling sport activities, missing loved ones at restricted funerals, not being able to visit older parents, staying inside with cabin fever and ending social connections would contribute to well being.
