Yikes!

Honest to God I’m not very excited at the idea of people having a choice on whether they want to wear masks on public transit or not. I got vaccinated but haven’t taken my mask off since this pandemic took over the world. I have not been sick once ever since I’ve kept it on.

I do think people should still have to wear masks in grocery stores transit drug stores and clothing stores. This is sensible. I am not comfortable people not wearing masks in these places. Elevators too

Masks are great.

Please wear masks when you have a cold or the flu, so others don't catch it. Masks are a good defence against dust and pollen, especially in spring. Masks filter out a large part of pollen particles, and this is especially important for those suffering from asthma or pollen allergies. Don't feel like putting on makeup? Put on a mask. Masks are a win for everyone.

My biggest concern is the delta variant that is far more easily transmissible, and the fact that there’s still a lot of unvaccinated people out there. Leaving it up to people to be honest about their vaccination status is pretty useless, because obviously, if no one is checking, people can say whatever they want. That said, I don’t think we’ve got much choice when it comes to it, because it’s just not realistic to think that we should be wearing masks indefinitely, and it’s not viable to check the status of every person entering a business or public space / transit. The lineups would be huge and it would take forever. Not to mention that there would be forgeries of vaccination cards I’m sure. So what’s the option?

You still haven't figured out that your mask is on to protect OTHERS? If it makes you feel more comfortable, though...

I was a fan of keeping space before the pandemic. Funny thing is the ones that aren't are the reason why

every time I've taken a bus during the pandemic there are on average 2 people not wearing masks and at least one more only half-wearing their mask (ie nose not covered); I wonder if it will change much overnight.

We keep throwing around this concept of "going back to normal" but what did that even mean before the pandemic??There was so much talk of reform, change, reset etc but if by normal you mean social and income inequality, violence towards women, homelessness, drug addiction, destruction of ancient forests, workers being exploited while owners make billions and mindless consumerism, then no,I don't want to return to "normal ".We don't need more "normal".I wish people would stop saying this.I have been forever affected by this pandemic and reject what society has indoctrinated us to believe is normal. And post pandemic, situations for millions of people will never be "normal "We use this word so much that it has lost all meaning.

In this context, to "normal" people (heh heh), a return to normal means a return to the legal situation prior to all of the orders, etc. that were introduced. This has three levels to it, federal, provincial and municipal.

My gut feeling is that we will have a permanent function for the provincial health authority in regulating restaurants, businesses, etc. with "COVID plans" and that this will allow for the creation of a new holiday season, the 'respiratory season' so that when the inevitable flood of sick people into the hospital happens in November/December, powerpoint graphs can be produced which will show that some sort of dramatic "circuit breaker" is required.

Nothing the Province has released talks about a return to normal in the typical sense of the term. The whole time we have been bashed with "new normal" propaganda---so some things will change, tho I suspect that they will be primarily on the regulatory side of things.

The problem here is your view that normal has to do with outcomes for people, rather than a state of affairs considered as such. Is it normal for everyone to die on a given day? No, but it is normal for some to die, and if we start looking at life as a single issue, that's abnormal, whether it is eensuring lots of people die on a single day (war) or ensuring that NO ONE dies on a single day. It's normal for people to die.

We absolutely had a chance to reset and re-jig the way society works in a much more sustainable level but money is the bottom line always.
