Now that I’m 2 weeks+ after Dose 2, I’ve we been seeing friends again. It has been so great to be walking alongside them, seeing their huge grins, seeing them laugh at my dumb jokes, making eye contact and just laughing together again. That being said, the journeys home afterward on transit are uncomfortable. I don’t want anyone talking to me, masked or unmasked, on the bus. I have stranger danger; I don’t know anyone’s vaccine status and I very much don’t want to share aerosols with any randoms on public transit. I was a few seconds away from bolting from my seat where this guy was pestering me with his unmasked face. I guess I will have to switch to car-share Evo’s and maintain as much social distancing as possible. Not worth the money saved using the bus.

Nice. First "they" tell you to get vaccinated.

Then you get paranoid.

Welcome to the new coronavirus reality.

I'm still being careful, too

I have concerns about the Delta variant, despite having my two vaccines. I'm still masking in public, keeping my distance and trying to be as careful as possible - both to protect others (because hey, the person next to me might be immuno-compromised and not vaccinated because of it) and to protect myself.

Because yes, the Delta variant can break through vaccines.

So I hear you, and I'm doing the same. And may continue to do that for some time.

Someone in the land of mandatory masks

It's a jungle out there.

The same people who want to take their masks off are probably the ones who haven't been vaccinated and who we are supposed to protect by wearing them. It's really quite a vicious circle.

I hear that

I've always hated taking the bus for that reason, pretty much my whole life, not just since the pandemic. As a teenager, I couldn't wait to get my license and drive myself where I needed to be just so I didn't have to take the bus anymore. People used to say public transport is for losers, but I just didn't like it because people are fucking gross. Then again, I've always been a bit of a germophobe.
