Ebye Ebay

I finally closed down my Ebay account after 10 years. Pretty much almost everything on there is ridiculously overpriced. It's really not worth paying so much money for a small item, let alone having to pay shipping and handling in American dollars. No thanks. So I'm done with that site.

Better to support Canadian businesses and shop locally.

I was done with it 10 years ago. Too many greedy hands in the cookie jar.

eBay is so outdated.

They don't protect their sellers from fraudulent buyers, they gouge their sellers with ridiculous fees to sell goods on their site, they don't have helpful customer service, everything on that site is overpriced. It makes zero economic sense to shop there. It makes zero environmental sense to shop there (lots of carbon footprints from millions of individual small orders from China to North America). There are a ton of American & Canadian online businesses out there who will 1. not charge you an arm & a leg 2. Try to work with you if something is wrong. 3. And you're supporting small, independent business! Yay!

I shut down 90% of the online shopping sites I have bought from or even supported more so last year when the need was greatest. Heck, I have even stopped using self checkouts and only go where there are cashiers and in person communication

Someone once may have paid as much as

see also every used guitar on craigslist. People know exactly what the cash value is of all the stuff they no longer value and won't accept one penny less. But that's ok because I all ready have too many guitars, I'm just looking for a treble boost.

Oh man, every word of this post is right on. I think I got suckered into browsing ebay because there's a lot of discontinued items you can only find there. I bought a bunch of underwear that I liked from an Australian seller because it was from a discontinued line ( I'm very picky about what I wear)but then I ended up paying an insane amount of money for a couple of items from an American seller. I won't tell you what the purchase was because its beyond stupid and embarrassing. I felt instant shame and regret after clicking the purchase button and there's no returns.
Like you said, ridiculously overpriced and shipping/handling costs are obscene. I'm done.

I used to

occasionally buy clothing on eBay but the American sellers absolutely gouge Canadian shoppers on the shipping so I don't bother anymore.

It's hard to believe anyone buys anything from that crap. But what isn't overpriced these days, free sites such as this too. People willing to manipulate others at any cost if they can get away with it. It's incredible what people will invest into. Psychic/emotional manipulation takes a toll. Some poor fool will believe it's worth it, they're worthless without it. Online is nothing more than a tool for observational and reactionary/fear based control. One man or many pulling the strings. Would rather not bother with any of it anymore. Worthless in the end.

Shipping costs to Canada are a joke.

You're telling me you'll ship to Hawaii & Alaska for free but to Canada, it will cost more than the item you're actually purchasing? Get the f*** out of here

Ebay was great back in 2007

When the Canadian dollar was at parity with the US dollar. The deals felt like you were getting away with murder even with some of the ridiculous shipping charges.
