I like getting

older. I have reached a point, as I approach middle age, where I have fewer and fewer illusions about people and life in general and it is great! Sure, there are a few wrinkles on my face and a few more creaks in my muscles and bones but I would not trade them for the intense angst of my youth. I no longer have any drama or feel the need to impress others or seek attention and validation as I did in my younger years. Also, many problems I used to have have just sort of worked themselves out naturally over time. Enjoy being young, but really I think getting older is better!!

I am at the middle point as well. less than 50 bit higher than 40. What I have noticed about mid life crisis's, has changed. No more motorcycles or hotrods, but many people I know have started businesses or packed up and moved. Those appear to be my generations current mid life freak out. I say this because the amount of undue stress I have seen normal people suddenly put on their life is high. in fact divorce seems to be creeping up in many relationships that previously seemed fine...

Agreed! I'm not sue what people think is middle aged these days, but I'm pretty sure thats me. I love it, and I love it when someone full of drama and need for attention stops calling me.

What about the oldies who didn't wisen up, they constantly got more delusional and drama-seeking?
It Depends

Usually, when people make these kinds of comments its because they've become more successful with age. So of course its understandable that people would say "I'd never want to go back to my 20s" etc. But I've made so many poor choices and miscalculations that now my life as a middle aged person is a mess. I haven't evolved emotionally/spiritually or anything like that either. Poor finances and a stunted career can really limit a person's life experiences and thereby inhibit their growth.
But at least when I was young, no matter how bad things were I could at least hold out hope that things would be better in the future. I don't have that hope now. If I found a time machine that could take me back to my 20s so I could do things over again and make better decisions, I would jump at the chance. I think getting older is only better if the right pieces are in place.

Good that you can do it now. I didn't feel that way until 50 or so. But I guess that's considered middle aged now. Used to be late thirties or 40 in the olden days.
It’s all good

…until you REALLY start to get older. “Approaching middle age” is young! When you get into your 60’s and older, that’s when things start breaking down (yes, even if you’ve been in good physical condition all your life) and the aches and pains get a lot worse. At your age I was liking it too, but that was a long time ago and now I would definitely trade it for those days. Enjoy your youth while you have it!

the increase in self-confidence make the supposed "loss of looks" not matter.
There's three things to know about the aging process:

1) it can affect the memory, and 2) ummm ... what were those other things ?

Keep your broad (pun intended) generalizations to yourself! I had way more confidence in my 20s than I do approaching my 50s, and it’s so irritating to hear how I’m apparently still a weirdo because I don’t fit into this particular stereotype. I had my life ahead of me! Sky’s the limit! As @it depends said, I would love to go back and do things just a little bit differently, and maybe I’d still have some of that brash confidence that fuelled me into my 30s, when things started falling apart. But good for you, I guess.

lol yes that’s true some people never mature, my 90-year-old granny who still gets into fights with everyone all the time is a perfect example. I think it’s a combination of intelligence and EQ and if you start out high with those they just get better over time!
