Pretending

I’m back out in the world doing the things, but it’s not the same. I’m acting like it is, but parts of this city that were bustling before the pandemic are ghost towns. People seem to have decamped elsewhere. And I understand why

Makes perfect sense

It seems we’ve moved through one of those historical microclimates where we can occupy the same spaces but can’t quite replicate the same feeling. I think a lot of Vancouverites can relate to this.

I live in a growing tourist town and it is 120% busy here. It is, at first and times, anxiety inducing and stressful. Then it is realism that the pandemic was a time and place. That time and place is done. Hit the ground running with the next chapter.

The pandemic is not done

We have at least a few more mutations in the works. Mark my words.

@the pandemic

Maybe you are the op in the place where it's a ghost town. would make sense to think things aren't moving forward. where I live there is 100% no chance that people are going to shut down or where masks again. My advice, and I give this to myself as well, is travel out of your region to get a feel of what is happening else where. shit, I may travel to Vancouver just to see how its changed or the stress of the ferries. :) good luck with everything.

I feel like where I live (near Commercial Drive), the city is alive again-maybe even more alive than before...and it feels SO GOOD. but people are still wearing masks and it's not like the pandemic has been banished from our minds, more that people are out and about and socializing more again.

Where is that?

I live in a place here in the LM that has become insanely busy since the start of the pandemic. So much so that it’s no fun being here anymore at all because the rest of the LM has decided that they’ll come here for all of their recreational activities. I hate it now. So please tell me where these places in Vancouver are that are ghost towns, because I want to go there!

I decamped

To the UK. Now THAT was a $hit show! Death rate 33 times that of BC. Been stuck here for 9 months. Can't wait to get back to Vancouver. Dreaming about it has been what's kept me going.
