Shy hugger

I have never enjoyed being hugged due to childhood trust issues that I won't get into. Everyone is excited about hugging people again now that covid restrictions are being lifted. Not looking forward to this. I was kind of able to get into the spirit of hugging before covid, but now, can't imagine doing it again except with a few people I'm close to. Please be patient with us shy huggers when things go back to normal.

Just say no

I'm the same - really don't like people touching me unless I'm really comfortable with them. I don't even like over-emotional conversation. Makes me want to run a mile. I'm just clear up-front - I don't like hugging. I'm on the spectrum, so I'll tell them that if necessary.

Where are all these people forcing hugs on people ? Maybe it is different for women, but I haven't had a hug for six years and don't anticipate anyone offering me one anytime soon.

I so get it. That was one of my first thoughts, oh no, we'll all be back to hugging. I'm not opposed with certain people I'm really close to, I just tolerate it. But no, I'm no hugger by nature. Body space crusher trap with unpleasant odours.

This is a good opportunity for you to state and enforce your boundaries. You should not have hugs forced on you if you don't want them.

When someone says “let’s hug it out”, I’ve honestly responded “let’s not”.

Also.. I’m not mad if the handshake disappears thanks to covid too.
