Broke Again.

One of my unforeseen stress responses is to literally light money on fire. 400$ last weekend was dedicated to paying the casino for instance, and disappeared almost with contempt. I make an OK wage, and could get by saving, and tucking money away, and work on being debt free. It would be nice to no longer be indentured. But for some reason, I actively get rid of it, as soon as I get it. I’m not naive enough to think I just hate money anymore. I would love some for actual goals. However I do sort of hate it, or am scared of its effects on people. I’ve been on the parameter of life of some very well off people at times, and I’ve …seen things I really disliked. I just wish I wouldn’t instinctively burn all my money as soon as I get stressed out or run down.

Lock it away?

Can you lock it away in a different account? Or try going to a credit counselling place? Best of luck, and please try to stay out of the casinos. They always, win.

Charity

If you have to satisfy a compulsion to get rid of money, why do you do so at a casino? Why not a charity? At least then the money would do some good. Maybe in researching the right charity, you will be able to focus on others instead of your own stressors. Maybe you will find healing.

It’s not you, per se

It’s your brain, just a part of you. Sometimes our brain is wired a certain way. Some people have addictive personalities. If they don’t spend all their money in casinos, then their brain finds another vice like compulsive shopping etc. You can learn how to control your money. I totally understand the feeling of wanting to blow it as soon as you get it. Seeing a debt counsellor like someone suggested is a good idea as you will be held accountable by an outside party which helps. Money is an emotional thing. People use it to fill boredom, feel superior over others, horde it for a rainy day, etc. Take care of yourself and stay out of the casinos. You can do so much more for yourself with $400.

Get some help for your self

And take note that the real-deal authentic helpers never put a price tag on their service nor do they advertise. You have to firstly want to help yourself then you need turn on your own inner radar to find the real helper. Then, the matter of payment for their service is left to the principle of reciprocity. Everyone needs to take care of their themselves and support their family, but payment on the principle of reciprocity is give what you can.

Boring

This is the lamest thing I have ever heard. Stop expecting everyone else to cover for you when you blow your own money. We are tired of picking up the slack. Grow up.

Bit of a gambler huh.
Everyone has one vise or another.
Shopping, gambling, drinking, smoking, giving money to the collection plate every Sunday.
You get the point.

Wow, so many downvotes. Is it because the OP says they have money to burn? Just as many people are poor, many people also find themselves with extra money. Then there's rich people. That's just life. It has always been that way and it will always be that way.

I'd say you need to do some serious thinking about why you insist on wasting money like that. Maybe there's something in your past that you haven't confronted, or maybe it's just a bad habit pattern you have developed which causes you to behave this way. I guess it's easy for someone like me to give advice like "why not throw that money at your debts instead of just throwing it away?", but I don't really know what your thought processes are.

Hope you can figure it out though. Good luck.

maybe it has something to do with fact we are bombarded with materialism ads 24/7 that say we endlessly need something to make our lives whole or better. I throw in popular gluttons of the world Anthony Bourdain that implicitly promote moderation is never the answer. I would not he surprised if his "handlers" not not telling the whole truth about the circumstances of his death for pr or insurnace reasons.
