Young Love

Thirty years ago on this weekend, I left home for college. My highschool sweetheart and I had a drunken quickie in the bathroom during my going away party. She never told me for a long time, but she had gotten pregnant and miscarried. I feel so badly for what she must have gone through alone because of that accident, poor girl was so young at the time.

If she couldn't be bothered to tell you when she became pregnant, I cannot imagine the point of telling you many years later that she had miscarried. Is it just to lay a guilt trip? Is she trying to generate some moral currency and if so, why? Sounds like you dodged a catastrophe there.

Pregnant, alone. Some heartache you just don't get over.

Quickies are great. So is contraception. We don't live in the stone age. It's not misogynistic to believe that everyone is responsible for contraception. Alcohol is no excuse. As someone who made this same mistake, I consider it a lesson learned.
