Vancouver has always been hard for making friends, so don't blame yourself. These people need to pull their heads out of their asses.

Pandemic makes it harder

Find some hobbies you enjoy and you’ll meet others with the same interests as you. For example join a beer league sports team or volunteer somewhere. It may take some time but don’t give up. Unfortunately it’s harder during covid. Good luck

be positive (to almost delusional level) and appear interested and interesting no matter how you are on the inside is how most people get thru life and never show signs of depression

I too went through a long period when I had absolutely no friends. It was painful. I found some relief by making online friends who shared some interests with me and by using Meetup. I know that Meetup might not work right now because of the pandemic. But try not to lose hope. There are friends out there for you.

No Worries

No "friends" will be there in your deathbed other than immediate family if you were even half decent. Does not pay to be deep thinker and see the eventuality of how friendships play out in life . Be superficial is how people want you to be

Now I'm at the point of my life where many of my friends have lost their lives and many have lost their marbles from substance and people abuse. I am lonely but I keep leaning into the wind and moving forward, Somehow I know I've got things to do to help others and that everything will be alright in the 'Big Picture.' .... "If you do your work truly and conscientiously, unknown friends will come and seek you." - Carl Jung

I blame the era.

The advent of technology such as automobiles, televisions and the internet has improved our lives in countless ways. But it also functions to cut us off from other human beings, villages, communities, clubs, coffee shops. I can remember a time before Facebook and Instagram, and for that I'm profoundly grateful. I wish I had a helpful suggestion to make. I myself am going through a lonely time right now. Tough times have a way of making fairweather friends go away. Sending peace and good wishes through these satellites Op.
